Homecare professional visits Rhawnhurst NORC

Members of the Rhawnhurst Naturally Occurring Retirement Community last month welcomed the CEO of the Pennsylvania Homecare Association.

Vicki Hoak heads the trade association, which is based in Lemoyne, Cumberland County and represents more than 500 organizations that provide care and support to people in their homes.

At the April 25 meeting, held at Rhawnhurst Presbyterian Church, Hoak distributed a DVD and booklet titled Bringing Care Home . . . Beginning the Important Conversation About What We Want as We Age.

The DVD and book include information on advance planning documents, power of attorney, wills, hospice, adult day services, home health, home care, nursing homes, Medicare and reverse mortgages.

NORC members left the meeting with plants and toiletry bags donated by JRAid, a project of Jewish Relief Agency.

Rhawnhurst NORC will meet again on Thursday, May 23, at noon at the Congregations of Ner Zedek, 7520 Bustleton Ave.

State Sen. Anthony Williams and state Rep. Brendan Boyle will discuss poverty issues and legislation that would require the teaching of the Holocaust in public schools. ••
